Hoobastank rocked UW-Whitewater
By Sky Ammann

Chris Hesse, Markku Lappulainen, Dan Estrin, Doug Robb
The atmosphere was intense at UW Whitewater campus invasion tour concert on April 29th. Muzzy Luctin, Pipe Circus and the headliner, Hoobastank all rocked out to the enormous college and high school crowd. The show started at 8 pm with the doors opening at seven.

To start the show, Muzzy Luctin took the stage and was quite boring. It’s not that they are a bad band; it’s just that they had absolutely no energy. The crowd was not receptive of them at all, and they didn’t get much applause.

The next band to take the stage was Pipe Circus. They are a Funk band native to the Whitewater area, and they did a much better job at entertaining the crowd. They had a lot of humor and danced to their interesting off the beat tunes.

Between each band and before the show, MTV was giving away merchandise like candy. Close to a 100 shirt were given away, and maybe 150 CD were throw to the crowd. Because MTV sponsored the event, they wanted it to be as “modern” as possible, and they really went all out on making that happen.

Finally, Hoobastank hit the stage, and they hit it with a bang. The lights were off and from seemingly nowhere the bands emblem glows like it’s burning a hole in the wall. Then gym exploded with Hoobastank’s musical masterpiece. At the end of the show Doug Robb, the lead singer of Hoobastank said to the pack gym, “This is the grand finale of the tour…the show’s over…so it doesn’t matter if you get kicked out…GO CRAZY!” Then the gym exploded with mosh pits and people getting body passed. This, was for sure, a concert to remember.

Game Review: Ninja Gaiden a worthy sequel
By Dan Olson

Ninja Gaiden, available only on the Xbox, is a sequel to the old Arcade, Nintendo, and Super Nintendo games.

Developed by Tecmo, Ninja Gaiden features wonderful graphics, sound, and gameplay. As the player, you control Ryu Hayabusa, a ninja from the Dragon Lineage.

Throughout the course of the game you are in search of the Vigor Empire, a clan that is a breed of both human and monsters, which has massacred your clan.

To aid in your quest for revenge, Ryu has a full array of weapons at his disposal, including swords, nunchakus, giant axes, and shirkens.

While most of the time Ryu is outnumbered, there are many maneuvers he can perform that help give him the upper hand. For instance, he can run along side of the wall for a short time to help you get behind an enemy.

He can also run across water, which allows him to get to certain areas that aren’t accessible any other way.

While the gameplay of the game is very good, the graphics is where the game really shines. In the heat of battle, the frame rate is barely altered, which makes the game even more enjoyable.

The cut scenes are also very nicely done. The in-game sound effects, such as sword clashes, explosions, and the screams of your enemies dying is superb, as well as the music.

If you have played a pervious Ninja Gaiden game, or just like fighting games, then Ninja Gaiden is definitely worth the price of admission.
