|
Evansville- Palmyra-Eagle Brodhead’s boys track team dominated both Evansville and Palmyra-Eagle at home in a triple duel on April. Brodhead placed first in every single event against both teams. Dan Roemer had a notable performance in high jump by clearing 5-8.
Jim Church Invitational On April, the Cardinal boys track team won their own invitational by outdistancing the second place team by points. It is the third year in a row that Brodhead has won this meet. Notable performances were the 4x800 team of Pete Troyer, Mike and Dan Roemer, and Bruce Slack who placed first against stiff competition to start the meet off. Nick Jarvis also had a good day, placing first in the two mile and third in the mile. Pole vaulters Cody Gadow and Kenny Winters combined for a second and third place finish, both missing first by fractions of an inch. A.J. Curtis won both weight events and set the record in the shot put with a toss of 56-7. Josh Restivo also had a stellar day by winning the 110 high hurdles, 300 intermediate hurdles, 200 meter dash, and placing second in the long jump. Josh’s efforts tied the meet record in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 14.8 and broke the 300 intermediate hurdle record with a time of 39.0, all while winning his fourth consecutive 200 meter dash title at the Jim Church Invite. Josh was also track MVP of the meet along with fellow Cardinal A.J. Curtis who was the field MVP.
Turner- Parkview The Cardinal track team traveled to Turner to take on the Trojans. Again the Cardinals came out on top to versus Beloit and to versus Parkview. A notable performance was Dan Roemer going 5-8 in the high jump, which won the event. However, Josh Restivo narrowly lost to Seth Pelock of Beloit Tuner by thousandths of a second, but Josh took his revenge by destroying him in the 200 meter dash later in the meet.
Oregon Relays Due to rainy stormy conditions, Brodhead took a skeleton crew over to Oregon, but performed admirably by scoring fifty-eight out of a possible sixty points with their small team. The shot put relay of A.J. Curtis, Neal Nettesheim, and Kevin Skatrud took first place and shattered the previous relay record of 150-11 with three throws that combined to 155-9. Later that meet Josh Earleywine teamed up with Curtis and Skatrud to win the discus. With the pole vault being ran indoors, the Brodhead pole vault relay of Patrick Timm, Cody Gadow, and Kenny Winters easily won the event just missing the meet record by three inches. Ian Schlittler, Josh Restivo, and Neal Nettesheim won the 330 high hurdle shuttle relay; Schlittler and Nettesheim also combined with Dan Roemer for a second place finish in the high jump. Brodhead’s 4x800 relay team ran its best time of the year (8:30) to easily capture a gold in that event.
Edgerton Brodhead dominated yet another conference dual meet, this time against the Crimson Tide of Edgerton with a score of to. The Cards only allowed Edgerton two first places in the entire meet. Some great efforts include Josh Restivo’s time of 22.0 in the 200, Patrick Timm’s vault of 13 feet, Zach Panoske’s jump of 5-6, and Sean Pinnows jump of 5-4 in the high jump.
