Body of Lies
By Micah Ends

Body of Lies is an intense, action-filled movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat. C.I.A. agent, Roger Ferris, (Leonardo Dicaprio) is investigating terrorism in Iraq. In an attempt to find terrorist leader Al Salim Ferris loses his partner and close friend but manages to continue his work. Ferris is then moved to Jordan where he is given command of an operation involving a terrorist safe house. In spite of injuries and anything that comes between him and his job Ferris always moves forward focusing on his target. From Ferris’s boss, Ed Hoff (Crowe), to the Arabic head of security, Hanni Salaam that Ferris works with; when they carry out operations lies are always discovered. Hoff and Salaam continually fight for control of the operation resulting in severe problems for Ferris. After one power struggle, the safe house is burned to the ground by the terrorists when they find that they have been discovered. Salaam blames the failure on Ferris and tells him that he will no longer have protection if he comes back to Jordan, even though Hoff is to blame for the failure. Moving on as usual with his job Ferris comes up with a brilliant strategy that seems like an answer to all of their problems. Almost flawlessly, Ferris’ plan works until a small mistake is made causing everything to go into chaos. When the terrorists find out that they have been set up, they take a person hostage who is close to Ferris. In an attempt to save his friend Ferris gives himself up and is taken to the leader Salim himself. After being tortured and almost losing his life, Ferris is saved by Salaam. Ferris then finds that that he has been used as bait in order to find Salim. Body of Lies is an action packed film that will keep your head turning from one suspect to the next.

Ghost Town
By Jon Laube

With summer ending and autumn beginning, people do not have a chance to see great films like last summer. However, there are a few that prove to better than expected. Ghost Town is one of the better films of autumn. The film begins with Frank Herlihy (Greg Kinnear) walking down a Manhattan sidewalk. After missing a falling air conditioner, a bus hits and kills Frank. Now, he is one of the many ghosts that wander the streets. Soon, the story continues with Bertram Pincus (Ricky Gervais) who arrives at the hospital for a colonoscopy. After dying for seven minutes when administered anesthesia, Pincus gains the ability to see and interact with ghosts, but Pincus cannot stand the thought of being with other people. Knowing Pincus’ ability, the ghosts pester him to fix their problems so they can move on to the afterlife. Later on, Frank knows about this and asks Pincus to help Frank’s problem with his widow. His wife Gwen (Téa Leoni) is engaged to Richard (Billy Campell). Frank believes Richard is a bad man and wants to break up the marriage. Pincus wants nothing to with it, but soon agrees after Frank told all the other ghosts where Pincus lived. One of the highlights of Ghost Town is Ricky Gervais. In every scene he is in, he livens up the movie with his great sense of humor and witty sarcasm. Even though his personality can strike you as harsh, his personality is lovable after he becomes a nicer person to other people. Greg Kinnear is also a great aspect to this film. When he is on camera, his acting can be a highlight if you are in the right mood. In addition, Greg Kinnear has great acting chemistry when working with Ricky Gervais. A negative aspect of the film happens when certain jokes are involved. Some of the jokes can run on for a while, and others may be too smart to understand. Mild cussing appears in Ghost Town, but it is down to a mild level. The film was enjoyable experience, and one of the highlights of the second half of the year. Ghost Town has a great way to make you laugh because it is smart and not entirely vulgar. If you are in a good mood and need a breath of fresh air, Ghost Town will be the highlight of anyone’s day.
