Seniors Begin Valuable Job Shadowing Experience
By Jordan Riese

Every year for the past twenty years, the students in Mr. Wallace’s written communications class, take a day out of school to shadow someone with their desired job. Mr. Wallace feels, “Job shadowing gives students the opportunity to experience the actual job that they’re looking to go in to. Either way job shadowing is beneficial, it either verifies that they want to go into that career or shows them that they don’t want to do it and stops them from wasting four year of college.” Between November 10th and November 13th, sixty-six students job shadowed as part of the Blackhawk Technical College course. Job shadowing is following someone around to see what he or she do all day. If interested in a career but not exactly sure what it consists of, job shadowing gives you the opportunity to see what someone with that same job does. Most often, kids choose a person in the field that they want to someday get in to. Other students aren’t sure what they want to do when they get older so they shadow people here in Brodhead. For example, some stay at school and shadow teachers such as, Adam Hunt. He shadowed Ms. Calhoon the music teacher at the elementary school. Ryan Miller shadowed Ms. Stone. He’s not positive about his career choice but he thought that Ms. Stone’s job, as a gym teacher would be fun and interesting. Cassie Wymer job shadowed a physical therapist at Dean Care Hospital. She has hopes of one day becoming a physical therapist. Mr. Lueck stated, “Job shadowing gives students a chance to see what teachers and staff members do. It gives students experience and helps them interact with people like they will someday have to do at their job.”

RVC Travelling Art Exibit At BHS
By Tyler and Kendra

As you may have seen all of the crazy pictures, paintings, pottery and other cool displays of art, do you know where they are from? Every year the Rock Valley Conference picks two artists from the schools within the conference. In previous years, each school picked three students to have a work of art added to the show. This year, however there are many new school districts added to the conference. The districts added include: Whitewater, Jefferson, and East Troy. With the addition of these schools, the conference cut the number of students per school down to two. Each year the picture of the artist is featured next to their work of art. Below their picture there are a few questions such as: What media did you use? Was there a particular assignment or class that you did the work was made for? Also, what are your future plans? This year the two students that were chosen this year were Rachel Stibbe for a watercolor drawing, and Tegan Shelton for an acrylic drawing. Along with Rachel’s “Watercolor Doodle” and Tegan’s “The Beast” there are many great works of art from surrounding schools in display in the hallway next to the office.
